The International Media & Print Zone (IMPZ) was conceived as a regional hub for the Middle East’s growing media industry, requiring a destination capable of hosting exhibitions, conferences, performances, hospitality functions and international business events within a single integrated development. The brief called for a highly flexible convention and exhibition centre supported by meeting facilities, auditoria, hospitality suites, a luxury hotel and extensive service infrastructure.
The scale and complexity of the programme presented a significant challenge. Large exhibition halls required efficient access for event setup and breakdown, while conference, theatre, hospitality and hotel functions needed to operate independently yet remain seamlessly connected. The development also needed to establish a strong civic presence within the emerging district.
The design organised these diverse functions around a central public piazza, creating a clear urban focus for the precinct. A transparent exhibition hall engages the public realm, while conference facilities, auditoria and hospitality spaces are layered vertically above. A twelve-storey luxury hotel anchors the development, with shaded façades and waterways contributing to environmental comfort and identity.
The result is a landmark mixed-use destination that supports international exhibitions, conferences and cultural events while providing a coherent urban framework for the wider media district.
